Changes To The Tim Hortons Rewards Program

Of course, I am happy that Tim Hortons has a rewards program.  Unfortunately, it has not operated as smoothly as it seems like it should be!

The rewards program was revamped as of February 26th, 2020, and the update to the app seems to be causing problems for many customers.

Why is my Tim Hortons app not working?

Have you seen an error similar to the one below after updating your Tim Hortons app?

Unfortunately, this has happened to many customers, myself included!  At first, I tried a few things, and nothing seemed to work.

Ultimately I deleted the app from my Smartphone and then reinstalled it directly from the app store.  Removing the app completely and then reinstalling it this way worked for me. I now have the correct balance of money and reward points in my account.

If you are still having issues, I suggest deleting the Tim Hortons app entirely from your Smartphone.  Then go through the app store to reinstall it, complete with the latest updates and all.

Hopefully, that will work as well for you as it did for me!  However, if you still see a message that you are out of your home region and cannot earn or redeem points, try this.

What To Do If You Receive An Error Message In Tim Hortons App

  • Sign in under the registered email address you used when enrolling in the old program.
  • Next, select the “Account” tab in the bottom right-hand corner.
  • Toward the bottom, select the option, “Language and Region.” If you receive an error message in the US, you most likely need to change this to English-USA.  For some reason, many accounts defaulted to Canada with the update.
  • If you cannot change your Language and Region, you will have to create a new account as your old Tim Rewards account was created in the wrong country.  When signing up, enter a new email address and select the USA as your home country.

Overall I was happy with how the old Tims Rewards program worked.  I have yet to see how easily or quickly I will earn rewards under the new points-based system.

Hopefully, these tips can help you fix Tim Horton’s app errors you see and get you back to earning free rewards!

We’ve had a rewards card for over a year and it shows 0 balance. I got a Tim’s card with money on it. That doesn’t work either. I think we’ll just go to the local coffee shop from now on. The roll up the rim to win with the roll up cups worked. Not anymore however. Adios.

  9. Having trouble in which is say bummers so I try again but nothing so frustrating

  10. Having a lot of problems with your rewards app. Can’t get into my account to check it. Get a white screen all the time. My friend can’t set up an account. Apparently it won’t accept her e-mail! Can you not fix the app or get a new app. This is very frustrating! Would appreciate any help. Please advise.

    Thanks

    • Hi Laraine! Did you try uninstalling the app and then reinstalling it? That has helped some people get into the app. Also, make sure your phone is updated to the latest software version. I hope you can get it to work. If not, try calling Tim Hortons customer service line: 1-888-601-1616.
