As the leaves start changing and the nights get darker, it’s time to embrace the spooky season with a visit to one of the area’s haunted houses, scream parks, paranormal attractions and Halloween events.
Whether you’re looking for terrifying haunted houses in Buffalo, family-friendly Halloween activities, paranormal experiences or an immersive night of scares, there are plenty of options to choose from this October.
I’ve rounded up some of the best 2026 Halloween attractions in Western New York to help you plan your next spooky adventure.
Dates, prices and operating schedules can change, so I recommend checking the attraction’s website before heading out.
π» 1. Frightworld America’s Screampark β Buffalo
π 1001 Hertel Ave., Buffalo, NY
If you’re looking for a serious scare, Frightworld America’s Screampark belongs near the top of your list.
Frightworld is an indoor scream park featuring five haunted houses under one roof, making it particularly convenient when Western New York weather decides to do its usual October thing.
And because it’s indoors, Frightworld operates rain or shine.
The attraction features multiple haunted-house experiences, professional scare actors, special effects and different horror themes throughout the complex.
Why visit Frightworld?
- Five haunted houses in one location
- Completely indoors

If you want a haunted attraction that offers something for both hardcore scare fans and families, put EverHaunt on your list.

ποΈ 3. Rolling Hills Asylum β East Bethany
π 11001 Bethany Center Road, East Bethany, NY
This one is a little different.
Instead of walking through a haunted house filled with actors, Rolling Hills Asylum offers paranormal experiences inside a historic former poorhouse, infirmary, orphanage and nursing home.
If you’re fascinated by ghosts, paranormal investigations and haunted history, this is one of the most unusual Halloween experiences in the region.
And yesβRolling Hills is definitely open for Halloween season 2026.
Its October calendar already includes numerous events, including haunted movie nights, flashlight tours and self-guided ghost hunts.
Halloween 2026 highlights include:
- October 2: Haunted Movie Night & Ghost Hunt

- October 30: Multiple nighttime ghost hunts

Best for: Adults, paranormal enthusiasts and anyone who wants something considerably creepier than a traditional haunted house.
β 4. Nightmare Wharf β Buffalo
π Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park

π NEW FOR 2026!
This is one you’re definitely going to want to add to your article.
Nightmare Wharf is a brand-new immersive Halloween attraction coming to the Buffalo waterfront in October 2026.
The event will transform the Buffalo Naval Park and its historic waterfront into a large-scale nighttime Halloween experience featuring:

π 5. The Great Pumpkin Farm β Clarence
π 11199 Main St., Clarence, NY
If you’re looking for something that’s more fall fun with some spooky elements rather than an extreme haunted house, head to The Great Pumpkin Farm.
And here’s an important correction from the original version of this article:
The attraction should not be described as the “Haunted Forest” for 2026.
The Great Pumpkin Farm’s official 2026 schedule shows its fall festival running September 19 through October 31, with weekend admission including attractions such as hayrides through the Enchanted Forest, the Pumpkin Hill Slide, pedal carts, live entertainment and more.
There are also Halloween-themed activities including the Zombie Train and zombies in the maze on select weekends.

If you remember visiting Fright Fest at Six Flags Darien Lake, there’s an important update for 2026.
Fright Fest will NOT be returning to Darien Lake this year.
Six Flags Darien Lake has discontinued the nighttime Fright Fest event for 2026 and is instead focusing on family-friendly fall programming, including Oktoberfest and Kids Boo Fest.
So if you had Fright Fest on your annual Halloween list, you’ll need to choose another haunt this year.
The good news? Western New York has gained some interesting alternatives in its place, including Nightmare Wharf and Pine Street Horror.
